- Modem Doctor 5.2 Update Information
-
- Version 5.2 is a maintenance release of version 5.0.
-
- When Modem Doctor 5 loads or works in the Auto-Login mode, it generates
- an internal interrupt to verify your comm port IRQ settings are correct.
- Although this is fine for most system configurations, this feature might
- not be desired at all times, especially when running with network or
- speciality hardware. On some machines, this IRQ test causes a freeze-up
- of the system. Version 5.2 adds a command line switch, /Q that will
- bypass these tests. To use this feature, type MDR /Q from the command
- line. There are no other changes in version 5.2. To run the IRQ test,
- just type MDR (as normal).
-
- Version 5.1 previously addressed a problem with the Borland C++ compiler.
- It appears that some of the Borland C++ compiler optimization routines were
- causing stack problems (system locking up, freezes) on computers running
- either DR-DOS or QEMM Memory Managers under certain conditions. This release
- removes those problems.
-
- If you currently are using 5.0, you need not worry about this release. There
- is no difference in features between 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2 in functionality.
-
- Thanks to Roger Crawford for his help in correcting a very elusive
- system bug in 5.1 and to Howard Feldsott for help in testing the IRQ
- /Q switch interface.
